Newcomer Testimonial - Hiren Rawal

Home >> Newcomer Testimonials >> Hiren Rawal

“My Sudbury is my soul.”

Hiren Rawal has been a resident of the City of Greater Sudbury for a year and a half. He immigrated to the City from India to join his wife, who had already been here for some time. He is a student at Laurentian University and conveniently lives in residence. Hiren is steps away from his classes and can take advantage of the many amenities that the university grounds have to offer.

Hiren loves to eat outdoors, watch movies and play music for entertainment.

He especially enjoys the pace of life in Greater Sudbury, which he says is not too fast and not too slow.

Hiren says he is proud to be a resident because of the welcoming, pleasant people who call the City of Greater Sudbury their home. He describes the City as “great.”

He has taken advantage of many newcomer and other services offered in the City, including Social Insurance Number (SIN), Ontario Health Insurance Policy (OHIP) and Canadian Immigration services. He has also participated in the free Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. In addition, Hiren has visited the Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association and taken advantage of services at Laurentian University.

His advice to Newcomers to Greater Sudbury is to learn at least one of Canada’s official languages. He also says it's important to be patient when searching for employment.
